Beginning Strings
Want to learn to play a string instrument? 
You can choose from Violin, Viola, Cello, or Double Bass. 
This class is for absolute beginners and everyone is welcome!
Concert Orchestra
Already know how to play a string instrument? 
This class is for You! 
We will perform as an orchestra and 
travel to competitions and festivals.

How do I enroll?
Visit your counselor today and tell them you want to be in strings!
Now that it's summer break, is it too late to enroll?
No, you can still contact your counselor and tell them you want to be in strings. You can also contact your counselor at the start of the school year. 
What if I already have a different elective selected?
Beginning Strings and Concert Orchestra meet during 7th period. This means that you can choose to have multiple electives. Visit your counselor today and tell them you want to be in strings!
When does the class meet?
Both string classes will be offered during 7th period. Concert Orchestra will rehearse during 7th period on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beginning Strings will rehearse during 7th period on Wednesdays and Fridays. 
Do I need to own a string instrument to be in the class?
No, there will be string instruments available for all of the enrolled students. 
What if I already own a string instrument?
If you already own a violin, viola, cello, or double bass, you are more than welcome to use it!

Chamber Night at ESMoA

Come tonight, March 19th, to ESMoA to enjoy some chamber music performed by the ESMS Advanced String Class. The event is from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
Tickets are only $10. We will also be selling snacks and beverages!
All proceeds from the event will go to the ESMS String Program.

P.S. Beginning String students will receive extra credit for attending the event

Disneyland Payments - DUE by 3/24

Hello ESMS String Parents & Students,

Just a reminder, Disneyland money is due by next Monday (3/24)!  Checks can be made to ESUSD.
$135/ ESMS String Students
$62/ ESMS String Students with a Disney Season Pass
$85/ Parent Chaperone
We are a team and to be successful we need every student to join us.  If you need assistance financially, or a payment plan please let me know.  Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and no U's in citizenship.

“Music in the Parks Festival”


The ESMS string students will be competing in the “Music in the Parks Festival” on May 2nd. As part of the festival, the string students will get to go to Disneyland!

  • To attend the festival and Disneyland it will be $135 per student (this does not include meals).
  • To attend the festival and Disneyland as a chaperone it will be $85 per chaperone (this does not include meals).

All payments are due by MARCH 24th. You can pay by cash or check. Please send money to school in a sealed envelope labeled with your child’s name. Please make checks payable to “El Segundo Middle School.”
