Character Development

El Segundo Middle School believes in the educational development of the whole child. To mold well-rounded global world citizens prepared for democratic participation, ESMS emphasizes the IB Learner Profile outlined to the right. Staff encourage the development of these attributes through modeling and through the design of academic tasks.

Our counseling staff leads a whole school effort to recognize, promote and celebrate character achievement. The school designates thirty minutes of school weekly to teach self-understanding, understanding of others, character development and financial literacy.

El Segundo Middle School promotes tolerance and understanding through programs like Challenge Day and the school's "Be the Change Team." See "Counselor's Corner" for more information.
